Teaser Tuesday #23: “Saving June” by Hannah Harrington

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

    • Grab your current read
    • Open to a random page
    • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
    • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
    • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Saving June

Paperback, 336 pages

Published November 22nd 2011 by Harlequin

I watch them as they run and dance and sing in the same way that little kids do, carefree and not at all self-conscious. Like you do before you’re old enough to worry about how dumb you’ll look to anyone else. I wish I could be like them. Able to let go that way. But instead I’m the girl who sits on the sidelines, unable to feel anything but anger, my heart hollowed out, my insides closed off, iced over.

From page 106 of “Saving June” (Quote taken from E-ARC, text may be different in the final copy).

I know that it’s longer than two lines, but I couldn’t force myself to cut this quote. SAVING JUNE is easily one of the best contemporary novels this year. Definitely hits close to home.
