Book Trailer: The Curiosities: A Collection of Stories by Maggie Stiefvater, Tessa Gratton, and Brenna Yovanoff
The book trailer for The Curiosities: A Collection of Stories was posted back in March, but since this is the first I’m seeing of it, I figured maybe some of you haven’t seen it either:
From the YouTube description:
From acclaimed YA authors Maggie Stiefvater, Tessa Gratton, and Brenna Yovanoff comes The Curiosities: A Collection of Stories.
• A vampire locked in a cage in the basement, for good luck.
• Bad guys, clever girls, and the various reasons why the guys have to stop breathing.
• A world where fires never go out (with references to vanilla ice cream).
These are but a few of the curiosities collected in this volume of short stories by three acclaimed practitioners of paranormal fiction.
But The Curiosities is more than the stories. Since 2008, Maggie, Tessa, and Brenna have posted more than 250 works of short fiction to their website merryfates.com. Their goal was simple: create a space for experimentation and improvisation in their writing—all in public and without a backspace key. In that spirit, The Curiosities includes the stories and each author’s comments, critiques, and kudos in the margins. Think of it as a guided tour of the creative processes of three acclaimed authors.
So, are you curious now?
The book trailer for Under the Never Sky was released yesterday, and unlike most book trailers, I think this one perfectly captures the story. It’s a wonderful trailer. If you haven’t read this one yet, what the heck are you waiting for?
The book description:
Exiled from her home in the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope for survival.
A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world that’s harsh but often beautiful.

I pushed down a key. The hair on the back of my neck shot up, and my skin tingled.
I imagined this was what it felt like to fall in love.
In that moment, I was ready to fall.
Life is bleak but uncomplicated for Tess, living in a not-too-distant future where the government, faced with humanity’s extinction, created the Chosen Ones, artificial beings who are extraordinarily beautiful, unbelievably strong, and unabashedly deadly.
When Tess begins work at Templeton, a Chosen Ones training facility, she meets James, and the attraction is immediate in its intensity, overwhelming in its danger. But there is more to Templeton than Tess ever knew. Can she stand against her oppressors, even if it means giving up the only happiness in her life?
I received a review copy of Chosen Ones by the awesome folks over at Entangled Publishing, so I'm trying to make my way through my TBR list of NetGalley books and ARCs in order to read this one. It sounds fantastic!
I was lucky enough to read this book last year, and I adored it.

I’m really, really, really looking forward to reading “The Way We Fall” by Megan Crewe when it releases later this month. Have you read it yet? What did you think?
About “The Way We Fall” (coming January 24, 2012 from Disney-Hyperion):
16-year-old Kaelyn challenges her fears, finds a second chance at love, and fights to keep her family and friends safe as a deadly new virus devastates her island community.
Also, if you’d like a chance to win “The Way We Fall”, Megan is giving away an awesome prize pack over at her blog: http://www.megancrewe.com/blog/?p=1556
I’m a huge fan of Jennifer’s and I absolutely loved OBSIDIAN, and after noticing there was no trailer for OBSIDIAN, I decided to toy around in Sony Vegas to see what I could come up. Now, I’m no expert when it comes to making trailers/movies, and I’ve just recently learned how to use Sony Vegas (I know, I’m slow), but I actually really like how this one came out. Plus, those of you who have had the chance to read OBSIDIAN, you’ll appreciate a certain image towards the end. 😉
Note: this is more of a teaser trailer for OBSIDIAN.
This took foreverrrrrrrr to upload (darn you, YouTube).
St. Martin’s just sent out an e-mail with a link to the trailer for The Trylle Series by Amanda Hocking, along with a link to read an excerpt. I was planning on waiting until tomorrow to post this, but I’m quite impatient, so I’m posting it now.
I’m currently reading SWITCHED, which I plan to finish over the weekend, and I’m really enjoying it so far. I can see why she exploded with her self published books, Hocking is very good at pulling you in with her words. Per the publishers request, my review will not be posted until the first week of January. Make sure you keep your eye out for my review as there will be a giveaway attached!
Wanna read an excerpt of SWITCHED? You can do so by going here.
This is rather late, and I am sorry about that, but here is today’s Trailer Thursday pick:
Here’s a description:
Katelyn McBride’s life changed in an instant when her mother died. Uprooted form her California home, Katelyn was shipped to the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, to her only living relative, her grandfather. And now she has to start over in Wolf Springs, a tiny village in the Ozark Mountains.
Like any small town, Wolf Springs has secrets. But the secrets hidden here are more sinister than Katelyn could ever imagine. It’s a town with a history that reaches back centuries, spans continents, and conceals terrifying truths. And Katelyn McBride is about to change everything.
Broken families, ageless grudges, forced alliances, and love that blooms in the darkest night — welcome to Wolf Springs.
I really want to read this book, although given my TBR stack, it’ll be a while before I do.
We'll just call today Trailer Tuesday because I couldn't wait to post this. Here is the full book trailer for "Shatter Me", one of the most buzzed about titles of 2011:
“You can’t touch me,” I whisper.
I’m lying, is what I don’t tell him.
He can touch me, is what I’ll never tell him.
But things happen when people touch me.
No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon.
But Juliette has plans of her own.
After a lifetime without freedom, she’s finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she’d lost forever.
