{30 Days of Daemon Blog Tour} Dear Daemon!

I’m *super* excited to be a part of the 30 Days of Daemon blog tour! Today, I have a special post for you all. It’s a Dear Daemon post. Yes, really. Because honestly, what better way to celebrate the awesomeness that is the Lux series than to receive advice from Daemon Black? 😉

[1]Dear Daemon, What advice do you have to give about a friend who has turned her back to me because of my attitude? She’s known me for years now and now she has a problem with how I act. Should I apologize to her for being how I am? It’s been a month now.

Dear Attitude,

Why do you have an attitude? Did she do something? If so, then you probably have a reason to get an attitude. But if you just have a bad attitude than you need to apologize and make things right. Trust me, that sucks. I have a bad attitude. And I’ve had to apologize. Many times.

Yours Truly,
Daemon

[2] Has any girl turned you down?

Dear LOL,

What do you think?

Yours truly,
Daemon

[3] Dear Daemon, Every time I see the guy I like at my office I can’t do much more than stutter, blush and occasionally knock him over. Is this a bad thing? Is there anything I can do?

Dear Shy and Cute,

The blushing and stuttering is cute. That strokes a guy’s ego. I’m not ashamed to admit that, but knocking him over? I’m a little concerned about that part. To fix this problem, stop knocking him over.

Yours truly,
Daemon

[4] Dear Daemon, What was going through your mind when you found out that you and Katy were connected? And what would Ash’s reaction be?

Dear Touchy Subject,

My first thought was holy crap on a cracker. Ash’s reaction will probably be murderous, but she won’t do anything. She knows there’s nothing for her to do.

Yours truly,
Daemon

Deamon Invasion 2012!

Over the last couple of weeks, you’ve heard us talking about the upcoming #daemoninvasion and we’re so excited to finally share with you what is going on.

Really excited.

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States!  You heard right.  They are flying here, from Hungary to spend a few days as Daemon and Katy! While they are here, they will be working with Vania, from VLC Productions (the team behind Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments, Melissa de La Cruz, Kimberly Derting, Moira Young, Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl, Hillary Duff, Lauren Destefano, and many, many more authors’ book trailers), to film book trailers for the Lux Series.

During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we’ll be giving away signed posters, photos, and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on.

At each signing, there will be advanced copies of Onyx given away!

And to top things off (as if this isn’t enough, but we don’t do anything small), there’s something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahamas.

I am not kidding.

This will be epic.

Aare you excited? I am! This tour is going to be so, so much fun, and I’m so thrilled that Pepe and Sztella are a part of it. We owe them a huge thank you and a giant welcome making the 16 hour flight to meet the readers of the Lux Series.  You!

I’m a huge fan of Jennifer’s, and even though I’ve read (and loved) “Obsidian”, I’m still excited about the re-release. Since the new edition will be hitting shelves on May 15th, I figured I’d offer up a copy for one of my lucky readers.

And guess what? This giveaway is international. 🙂

For those curious, other than the new cover, there are some new additions to this version (taken from Jennifer’s blog):

What does this version have that the original doesn’t?

  • It’s in mass trade size, which all subsequent novels will be in
  • It includes Chapter 1 in Daemon’s POV
  • Two new Daemon POV
  • The first 2 chapters of Onyx

As long as Book Depository ships to your country, you are free to enter!

Now, here are the rules:

  • You must be 13 years old or older to enter.
  • Must be a follower of this blog.
  • Must leave a comment below with either a valid e-mail or twitter handle.

That’s it. I’d love if you tweeted about the contest or posted about it on Facebook, but it isn’t required. 🙂

This giveaway will run from 4/7/2012 until 5/14/12. The winner will be chosen using Random.org and will be contacted by the 15th (it’ll also be announced on the blog).

New covers for “Obsidian” and “Shadows”!

Jennifer just posted the new covers for Obsidian and Shadows on her blog (the new cover for Onyx hasn’t been revealed yet). I usually hate when books get new covers, but I actually prefer these…and yes, I will be buying the new paperback version of Obsidian. 😉

From Jennifer’s blog:

And here is the Obsidian revamped cover. And why yes, that is a awesome blurb by the amazing Deborah Cooke. Sqeee!
The second edition print run for Obsidain will include two POV scenes from Daemon (never seen before.)

Those scenes are:
Porch scene
And one other… I’ll never tell.

This version of Obsidian will be available on April 10th, 2012

More information on the Shadows cover/possible paperback release:
A quick background on Shadows. It’s a prequel novella to Obsidian, featuring three points of view: Dawson, Beth, and Daemon.  Yep, it’s a novella, but the little bugger came in around 47k words, so its pretty big.
The initial release will be digital ONLY and available wherever digital books are sold. When the pre-order links are available, you guys will be the first to know.  I’m being told it will be sold for $2.99 and will possibly go into print eventually.  I hope so, because I love that cover.

Thoughts on the new covers? Do you prefer the old covers?
I don’t think I can possibly sum up how eager I am for Shadows an Onyx to release.

{Double} Waiting on Wednesday #25: “Deity (Covenant #3)” & “Cursed” by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted over at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I decided to go ahead and pick two books this week, mainly becuase Deity doesn’t have a description to post yet (or pre-order links), so naturally I’m using this post to showcase the awesomeness that is Jennifer L. Armentrout.

This week’s Waiting on Wednesday picks  are:

Expected publication:November 6th 2012 by Spencer Hill Press

ISBN13: 9781937053147
Description from Goodreads: Since Pure hasn’t been released yet, there isn’t an actual description listed for Deity as to avoid spoilers.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of “Pure” from Spencer Hill Press, which I’m currently reading (when I shouldn’t be) and loving. There is a sneak peek at “Deity” at the end of the ARC and lets just say that I’m going to be needing more. Now, please.

And my second WoW pick is…

Cursed byJennifer L. Armentrout

Paperback, 304 pages
Expected publication: September 18th 2012 by Spencer Hill Press
Description From Goodreads:
Dying sucks–and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows. Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things–including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister’s hand again. And hell, she’d also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn’t? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not’ve been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.
Here’s the thing, Jennifer can do no wrong. With Obsidian, she makes you fall for the jerkface Daemon (but come on, especially with those bonus scenes, how can you not adore him?). With Half Blood, she gives you Aiden and Seth – and you have to love them both, let’s be honest. But with the awesome male characters, she also gives us kickass female characters. And Cursed looks to be no different. I’ve been dying to read this for a while now. September 2012 is too far away (but we get Pure and Onyx before then, so its all good).

Cover Reveal for “Onyx” by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

I am a huge Jennifer L. Armentrout fangirl. I fell in love with “Half Blood”, the first book in the Covenant series, and “Obsidian” (the first book in the Lux series) is my pick of best book of 2011. I was thrilled to be a part of the cover reveal for “Obsidian” earlier this year, so when Jennifer was asking for interested bloggers to help unveil the cover for “Onyx”, I jumped at the chance. So, without further adieu…here it is:

Expected publication: May 2012  by Entangled Publishing

A Sneak Peek at the Official Blurb:
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Haven’t read “Obsidian” yet? Well, you need to fix that immediately.

Here’s more about “Obsidian”, the first book in the Lux series:

Description:

Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

My Review:

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I fell in love with “Half Blood”, so when “Obsidian” was announced – I was excited to read it. I wasn’t sure how much I’d enjoy it (I wasn’t sure how sci-fi heavy it would be), but “Obsidian” is addicting. You want romantic tension? There’s plenty of it here! Suspense? Yep. Action? Yep. Awesome, kick butt female MC? Yep! I didn’t think it was possible, but “Obsidian” is even better than “Half Blood”.

The story is about Katy (who happens to be a book blogger) and the Black twins. When Katy’s mom decides to move to West Virginia, Katy isn’t exactly thrilled. But after her father’s death years earlier, her mom was desperate for a new start. Spending most of her time in front of her laptop, updating her book blog, Katy isn’t exactly the most social of characters – until her mother insists she introduce herself to the young teenagers next door: Daemon and Dee. Meeting them will turn her ordinary life upside down.

Daemon isn’t fond of Katy spending time with his sister, and he has his reasons. To say he’s a complete jerk to her at first may be putting it nicely, but he is quite hard to like when you first meet him. Thankfully, as the story goes on and you get a chance to know more about Daemon and Dee, that changes (he actually is quite charming). I loved the tension between Daemon and Katy. They are both incredibly stubborn and they refuse to admit how they feel about one another. You’re constantly waiting for one of them to just give in, so when that laptop scene comes – oh boy. Let’s just say that Jennifer L. Armentrout is the queen of tension.

If you’re looking for a strong female main character, this is your book. Seriously. Katy is just awesome. Even though Daemon insists that humans are weak, she manages to prove to him – twice – that she isn’t as weak as he makes her out to be. She’s witty. She’s strong. And she’s stubborn.

And I need the next book, like yesterday.

There isn’t a single bad thing I can say about “Obsidian”. It’s perfect, and I think it may actually be my favorite book of 2011.

Note: If you’re worried that “Obsidian” is too much sci-fi for you, as I know that not everyone loves sci-fi, no need to worry. Yes, there are aliens, but the sci-fi is rather light.

View all my reviews

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for granting my review request on NetGalley! I can’t wait to read the next book! Also, to readers interested in purchasing the e-book version: you probably won’t be able to download the e-book until December 6th (the paperback was released a bit early by vendors, so you can get that now).

Cover Reveal and Blurb for “Obsidian” by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

One of my personal most anticipated titles this year is “Half Blood” (which releases next month) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. If you’ve read the free prequel, “Daimon”, then you know why I’m anticipating “Half Blood” so much – Jennifer L. Armentrout is a fascinating writer and she’s created an amazing female MC who is sassy and strong. Jennifer is a bit of a writing machine. The Covenant series (which “Daimon” and “Half Blood” are a part of) and “Cursed” will be releasing through Spencer Hill Press, but she’s just announced a new book coming from Entangled Publishing: “Obsidian”!

Jennifer gave book bloggers the opportunity to reveal the cover and blurb for “Obsidian” and I’m happy to be a part of the reveal. Without further ado, here is the cover and the blurb for “Obsidian”: Read the rest of this entry
